Valentine’s day is a lot of bunk.
Who decided that dating should become a national holiday? Not me, that is for sure.
When romance becomes a duty – another date where we feel compelled to buys cards and gifts – that’s not a romance at all. It is just guilt, duty, and a better sales forecast for card markers.
If I am going to shower a person with gifts, chocolates, and attention it will be because I think that person is amazing and I want them to feel as amazing as I feel when I am with them. It will not be because some advertising gimmick tries to guilt me into feeling bad for not going shopping when the marketing department wants me to.
Love does not need a day to be celebrated. Love should be celebrated every day.
I say that Valentine’s day is bunk.

I far prefer being single. This is not an issue for me.
You can say the same about the other holidays too – all of them highly commercialised.
